Premise:

Mr. Sreeram came through a referral of another client. He was looking for a reduction in energy bills as the consumption was pretty high and the price per unit had been increasing regularly.

Solution:

As per our energy consumption analysis, using the energy bills of last 6 months, we arrived at a conclusion that a 7kW Solar Power Plant should be able to displace the monthly units consumed from BESCOM.

Compared to the per unit cost of BESCOM power, the power generated by the solar power plant is much cheaper and hence easy to bring down the monthly electricity bill by a significant amount.

With regards to energy billing, currently BESCOM charges Rs. 7/kWh for 100 units or above on monthly basis. Once the solar plant is commissioned, the units are either consumed or adjusted at the end of the month. Excess energy generated during the said period, is exported back to BESCOM and the same can be adjusted during monthly billing. This process is called Net-metering.

Hence by installation of solar power plant and consuming the solar units, we successfully demonstrated reduction in energy bills. Mr. Sreeram’s system consistently generated 30-32 kWh per day which also helps in getting credits towards his billing.
